A Month Without Clothes Shopping: how the heck did that happen? But then TK Maxx found me.

Hello, my fashion-loving friends! I wanted to share something quite unexpected and frankly, a little astonishing.

I haven't indulged in any clothes shopping for a whole month. Not a single purchase in a whole month. Now, for someone who has a lifelong love affair with purchasing, this is a big deal. Notice how I say purchasing…. Because I am not really shopping am I? Just aimlessly scrolling and using Apple Pay to buy things on a whim I ‘might’ like, I could always send back but then inevitably I don’t!

Let me give you some context. For as long as I can remember, I've been that person who finds happiness in the high-street, handbag halls and the Zara ‘New In’ section and can scroll for hours on Vinted, Depop and Reliked, my heart races at the sight of a perfectly tailored blazer, crisp white dress or a heavenly pair of shoes.

But this month, I kept saying to myself, just wait a week, and then buy it, wait a week, and suddenly we are at the end of the month!

But here's the thing – I didn't miss it as much as I thought I would. Everything I have seen this month - the item I loved and felt I would purchase 100% on the 1st of next month, I do not remember! Sure, there were moments of temptation, especially when I scrolled through my favourite online retailers or spotted a stylish ensemble on Instagram. Yet, each time the urge to spend crept in, I found myself pausing, asking myself if I truly needed another dress or did I actually just want it for a dopamine hit. I even said to myself you can buy it if you go into the store (I work in central London so that should have been easy) But I did not care enough. One item did catch my eye… and is on my list (I’m hoping to find on Vinted, Reliked or Mango discounts it) because when did we start paying £109.99 for a Blazer from Mango?

I am obsessed with this… I love the belted moment. I really want to buy it. But, when, when was it ok for Mango to charge £109.99? Have they massively improved the quality and I missed this?

I nearly got to the end of the month without buying anything new including: make-up, hair and skincare. But, then my friend text me and said, “Doesn’t Caroline Hirons talk about Kate Somerville? TK Maxx is doing massive discounts…” I bought these 4 items in roughly 30 seconds , whoops… but I think worth it. Seriously TK Maxx for discounted skincare is amazing!
