Part 2: Honest Review - My First Time Renting from HURR - (South of France with the Bags)

Read Part 1 here.

The bags arrived! Hurrah…. The Prada was managed by Hurr and as a result turned up in excellent packaging, with a return pre-paid label and wrapped in tissue paper.

The Celine turned up in a box that was a bit damaged and had a scratch on the Celine leather logo on the front of the bag. (I took a lot of photos and the panic began to rise - what if the seller isn’t trust worthy and says it was me!) No return label as from private seller.

I decided these bags were going to have to be carry on - what if my luggage got lost??? (I now have a £900 pending hold on my debit card until the 10th September)

South of France - The Pictures (AKA Why I rented the bags)

The Returns Process

I got back from holiday a little frazzled, and instead of collapsing on the sofa I had to dash to the post office to return my rental bags (since the 8-day rental includes posting-back time). I uploaded my tracking numbers into HURR, but found it slightly unsettling that there’s no confirmation email, no “thanks for returning, we’ll process it when it arrives” just radio silence. The next day I actually received a reminder email telling me to return the item I’d already sent. Then… nothing. No update, no “we’ve got your bag,” no reassurance that the £900 hold on my card would soon be released. A few days later, the money just quietly reappeared in my bank. Efficient in the end, yes, but the process could definitely be clearer and more reassuring.

Final Verdict - Would I Rent Again?

Yes… but with caveats. I’d rent again if it was a 4-day hire for something like a special lunch, a birthday dinner, a wedding, or even a Christmas party where a statement bag or dress makes sense. But 8 days? No — too expensive and not worth the stress. And I definitely wouldn’t take rental bags on holiday again. Summer bags are often lighter, less robust, and usually in pale colours — they’re beautiful but just too high-risk when you’re travelling. For me, HURR feels best suited to influencers or people who are constantly at events and launches, needing endless outfit changes without splashing out on the full retail price. I wanted to love HURR so badly… but for now, it’s not the right fit for me. But speak to me at Christmas…. I might have changed my mind.
