Review:The Fendi Peekaboo Medium: A Love Letter to a Timeless Classic
Fendi Peekaboo Medium

If there’s one thing Fendi knows how to do, it’s making an extraordinary handbag. Yes, I know I’m stating the obvious, but let me just say: the quality of the hardware, leather, and stitching on the Fendi Peekaboo is nothing short of fantastic. In fact, I’m going to go out on a limb and say Fendi might have the best stitching in the business. Thoughts? Maybe Fendi vs. Céline would be a fun debate, but for now, I’m sticking with my Fendi admiration.
My carpet is from 2008, do not judge me it needs replacing when I have the money!!
The Peekaboo’s Story
The Fendi Peekaboo, designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi, made its debut on the runway in 2008 and officially hit stores in the Spring/Summer 2009 collection. It’s a bag that perfectly balances elegance and playfulness, with its iconic design allowing a “peek” into its luxurious interior.
Important note: Don’t confuse the Peekaboo with the Peekaboo ISeeU. While they’re related (lets say non-identical twins), they have subtle differences. The ISeeU is designed to showcase more of the bag’s interior, adding a touch of modern functionality. If you’re shopping for one, I’d recommend going for the ISeeU for that extra va va voom. But today, we’re talking about the original Peekaboo—the bag that started it all.
Let’s Talk Sizes
The Peekaboo comes in four main sizes: large, medium, mini/small and micro. Here’s the rundown:
Large: I’ll be honest this size is enormous. Unless you’re using it as a stylish carry-on for flights, it’s probably too big for daily life. I grant you, it does look good being carried under the arm a la Victoria Beckham, oversized clutch style - but that is so not practical for the everyday working woman. Also, I have seen a lot of larges on re-sale platforms and the leather isn’t as structured and seems to have softened and creased over time.
Medium: This is the size I own, and it’s ideal as a work tote. It’s large enough to carry your essentials (and then some), but it still looks elegant. I’ve managed to fit an older (2015) larger Mac Air laptop (standing upright), charger, makeup bag, hairbrush, notepad, wallet, AirPods, and keys into it. I was worried about overloading it, but let me tell you—this bag is sturdy. Yes, I cradled it like a baby at one point, but it held up beautifully. She looks best carried handheld with the top handle. Crossbody, the medium size feels a bit bulky.
Mini: While I don’t have this size (yet!), It’s definitely, definitely on my wish list as I think it’s the perfect size for a weekend bag, and the perfect size to be worn crossbody.
Micro: Do not be ridiculous. This bag is a pencil case or glorified phone holder….unless money is no object - you are paying £1,550 for a key charm.

A Raincoat for a Handbag? Yes, Please!
One of the details that made me ridiculously excited about this bag: it comes with its own raincoat. I mean, how thoughtful is that - it has a better coat than me! I haven’t even taken the raincoat out of the packaging yet because I don’t want to spoil it, but the fact that Fendi includes this shows the level of care they put into their products.
What it fits?
Mac (stood on its side)
Perfume
Hairbrush
Full Make-Up Bag
Wallet
Airpods
Keys
Umbrella
Gloves
Bunch of flowers to give to a friend (small bunch of white tulips)
Why the Peekaboo Stands Out
Design: The Peekaboo is understated but luxurious. It doesn’t scream “look at me,” but those who know, KNOW!
Craftsmanship: From the buttery leather to the impeccable stitching, this bag exudes quality.
Functionality: It’s elegant enough for a meeting and practical enough to hold your daily essentials.
Longevity: This is a bag that will stay in style for years to come.
The Cost of Preloved: Is It Worth It?
Let’s talk numbers. I paid £1,650 for my preloved Peekaboo Medium, and yes, my debit card cried (who am I kidding credit card whoops) a little, I also choked a little on my coffee when I went to write this as I have a habit of forgetting how much I’ve spent. But here’s the thing: it was in pristine condition, and newer seasons are still pricey even on the preloved market. My advice? Go for a newer season if you can. Some of the earlier ones haven’t aged as gracefully, the leather on those looks a bit tired, it’s not as structured, and the shape isn’t as defined as it is now - its slightly more rectangle. Paying a bit more for a well-preserved, newer model will ensure your Peekaboo looks fabulous for years to come.
Preloved is a fantastic way to own this iconic bag, but make sure you’re investing in a piece that still holds its shape and craftsmanship. It’s a timeless classic, so make sure it’s worth every penny!
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a timeless investment piece, the Fendi Peekaboo should absolutely be on your radar. It’s elegant, practical, and has that subtle wow factor that makes it stand out from other luxury handbags.
Would I recommend the medium size? Yes, absolutely—for work or daily use, it’s perfect. But if you’re looking for something for the weekends, the mini is worth considering. And if you’re torn between the Peekaboo and the Peekaboo ISeeU, I’d lean toward the latter for its extra little something
Fendi didn’t just make a handbag with the Peekaboo—they created a legacy.
