Named after the Arc de Triomphe. It’s first catwalk debut was fall-winter 2018.
Yikes, truth be told, I forgot how much I paid for this bag. I just looked at the receipt to write this post - eek. A good second hand Celine Triomphe Classique is still very, very expensive. Celine is currently in its moment and is HOT property. This means for a good second hand Triomphe Classique you are looking at anywhere from £1500 - £2500. (which sounds like a lot of money off until you realise the bag retails at £3,330) Also, bare in mind every time Celine hike their prices, so does the resale market.
The leather is so smooth and buttery, it’s delicious, but, because it is so soft mentally prepare yourself for the fact you will scratch this bag, say it with me… YOU WILL SCRATCH THIS BAG probably on its first outing with your keys and/or nails. (the leather is that soft). Also, if anyone gets liquid spilt on this bag prepare to cry into your cappuccino – liquids can mark the natural leather. My heart stopping moment came at The Ivy Brasserie in Soho, London. I grabbed a couple of Zuccini fries (they are insanely good – the waiter always judges me that I order a whole portion for myself – not to share with the table) with my hands…and then touched the bag! The oil… (head in hands) luckily, I realised immediately and managed to remove the mark with my napkin in a split second.
But don’t be afraid of this, remember bags should be worn and enjoyed! (she says - mine is in a dust bag in a box) Don’t keep it for best – otherwise it’s a waste of your hard earned money. Also, I try to channel my inner Olsen Twin they carry beaten up Birkin’s’ around and look fabulous! I also think it’s very French to have a bag with character and marks – it shows a life lived.
I adore this bag and desperately want one in black. 10,000 stars from me.
I bought my bag from Handbag Clinic online. They do also have a consignment and are based in Selfridges.
Sizing
A word of caution. On the resale market the shoulder bag is listed a lot more than the classique and for less money. Unless you have money to burn don’t buy the shoulder bag you won’t wear it as much - spend the extra £300-£400 and get the option of both crossbody and shoulder.

Leather scratches easily and stains easily.
If you do not have the luxury of 100s of bags to choose from (like me!), I am guessing you’ll want to keep your bag in as good condition as possible which is tricky with this bag.
