Confessions of a Vinted Addict (Part 1/1000): My Sunday Shoe Haul

We’ve all been there. It’s Sunday evening, you’re feeling a bit flat, the weekend is winding down, there’s nothing attention grabbing on television, and it’s still too early to commit to a film. That’s when the irresistible pull toward a little digital retail therapy in the name of Vinted begins. For me, this Sunday wasn’t just a casual scroll—it turned into an all-out spree.

Let me paint the picture: I’m on a relentless, never ending quest for the perfect shoes to pair with my go-to workwear of white knit outfits, crisp white shirts and beige cigarette style chinos. These staples are basically my unofficial uniform, but finding the right footwear for the winter months? That’s the real challenge. It’s about striking the perfect balance between comfort, style, and that elusive “effortlessly chic” vibe.

Here’s the thing, though: in the UK, winter isn’t just cold—it’s wet, windy, and downright miserable at times. Horsebit loafers? These are my go to - but my toes freeze. Stilettos? Sometimes, but usually forget it - repeat my toes and feet freeze. And let’s not ignore the practicalities: I have a 20-minute walk from the train station to the office, so whatever I choose has to work for the commute and look polished.

But the struggle doesn’t stop there. A tan leather boot might seem like a safe bet, but pair it with light chinos, and suddenly it feels too heavy. Or is it just me? Am I wearing the wrong cut of trousers? Help!

Oh, and one final thing: I refuse to do the trainer-to-heels office swap. I like my outfit to look put-together the moment I step out the door—not halfway through my commute. Also, the commute is when you see EVERYONE you know. The dream? A shoe that’s chic, weatherproof, and perfectly balances with my work uniform. Is that too much to ask? Probably. But that’s what this Sunday spree was all about—chasing the dream, one Vinted scroll at a time.

So, armed with a cup of tea and my Vinted app, I went on a mission.

The Damage
By the end of my little “pick-me-up,” I had six pairs of shoes and boots all negotiated down with offers, now on route with the satisfying click of “buy now.” Here’s the haul and the grand total breakdown:

Pair 1: Vinted £13.69 // RRP £360-£640 – Bally Cream Leather and Suede Shoe

Verdict: The seller was amazing, she packaged them so beautifully so they didn’t get damaged in transit - they arrived in pristine condition. She was selling them because she bought them in a 6.5 but they were too big for her. I am 6 with wide feet.

They fit like a freakin glove!!! Downside these will get trashed if I wear them in the UK in winter - these are dry weather , sunny only conditions.

Rating: 7/10 - deducted points because I needed them for winter. These will not survive winter in London.

Pair 2: Vinted £7.92 // RRP £54.99 - Nude Real Leather H&M Mid-Heel’s

Verdict: They are the perfect shade of nude and because they are pre-worn they fit so much better than a brand new pair. Hopefully no blisters!

Rating: 9/10 Lost a point because, let’s be honest, these aren’t cut out for winter. The stiletto heel and a 20-minute walk each way? I know 20 minutes isn’t that far - but I feel the cold. My feet would freeze before I even hit the halfway mark. But at £7.92, who’s complaining? Come spring, these will be perfect—and by then, I won’t mind the trek nearly as much.

Pair 3: Vinted £18.94 // RRP £49.99 Zara [I think - they sold out and I couldn’t buy them originally] – A pair of suede heels block heels

Verdict: Yes, love them - warmer than leather because the outer suede is thicker and darker nude so do not stain as easy

Rating: 7/10 - Deducted 3 points as I still don’t know if this is the shoe to wear with chinos, and after wearing a few times they hurt my feet as you have to tense your foot to stop them coming off.

Pair 4: Vinted £88.20 // RRP £249.99 Hobbs - biggest discount ever

Verdict: The softest leather, the cosiest boot, yes yes yes - I am obsessed with the colour - very Ralph Lauren

Rating: 10/10 - but do they work with the outfit? Are they still too heavy?

Pair 5: Vinted £28.39 // RRP Zara (unsure but real suede so likely £54-64.99) Cream Suede Zara Cowboy Style Ankle Boot

Verdict: Beautiful, the perfect shade of beige, love the heel height, love the shape.

Rating: 8/10 - Deducted two point - I will wear these non-stop but not until Summer. Also they are a bit narrow.

Pair 6: Vinted £18.94 // RRP unsure. Massimo Dutti Heeled Sandal

Verdict: Beautiful, the perfect shade of beige, love the heel height, love the shape.

Rating: 7/10 - The strap falls down, Resold on Vinted, too big for my feet. They fit more like a size 7.

Tip - Buy Summer Clothes and Accessories in Winter - you get a better price

Grand Total: £176.08 – Not bad for six pairs of shoes, right? At least, that’s what I told myself as I clicked “pay.”

Sunday Scroll Reflections
I won’t lie—there’s something thrilling about finding those perfect pre-loved gems. Vinted gives you that treasure-hunting high, but it’s also a little too easy to get carried away when you’re in the zone.

Here’s the thing: I felt a bit flat when I started scrolling, and by the time I finished, there was a lightness to my mood that my beige chinos and white knit outfits will soon echo. Was it retail therapy at its finest? Perhaps. A justification for six pairs of shoes? Absolutely.

What’s Next?
Now, the real fun begins: trying on my new shoes and putting together outfits. Will any of these shoes become the Holy Grail of my wardrobe?

For now, let’s celebrate the joy of pre-loved fashion, a little indulgence, and the hope that sometimes, the right pair of shoes really can turn your day around.

What’s your latest Vinted haul? Also please share if you have found the perfect pair of shoes to go with a slim fit chino .
