My first Burberry trench coat is one I’ll never forget. For my 21st birthday, my mum gave me a choice: a holiday or the Burberry trench coat Emma Watson wore in the Burberry campaign (I had coveted a Burberry Trench since I was 16 years old - Bicester Village obvs not RRP). She had saved so much to make it happen, and I chose the coat—a decision I’ve never regretted. Yes, a materialistic decision - but I don’t care haha.Fourteen years later, I still own and cherish that military green trench. I remember unwrapping it for the first time and fiercely protecting it, even telling my baby cousins to go wash their hands before coming anywhere near it! The coat has travelled with me through countless memories, and while its buckle has became tarnished over the years and it is faded from all the dry cleaning- I do not care.
2. Black Sandringham (Long)
My second trench is a long, black Sandringham—a sleek and sophisticated piece. Side note: my Kensington below is a Size 10/M which is quite big…so I sized down, only to discover the Sandringham is more fitted and comes up smaller.. whoops, but, honestly, has been a great motivator to stay fit! A quick note on that - It’s my go-to coat for formal occasions and exudes elegance, even after years of wear. It makes me feel like I am Kate Middleton going to Church. Sadly, I cannot fit it over the top of a jumper - thin cotton only underneath!

My third trench, a long Honey Kensington, might just be my favourite. This classic trench coat embodies everything I love about Burberry’s design—timeless style and impeccable tailoring. I feel like Angelina Jolie when I wear it and I wear it basically every day. However, over the years, the sleeves became frayed, and I knew it was time to give it some much-needed attention.
After discovering this service, I decided that my Burberry Collection which after 15 years in the making (and has never seen a maintenance product or rewaterproofing service) deserved a little bit of love.
I contacted the Burberry team online and sent across proof of purchase and photos of the trench coats. Once it had all been approved, which took 24 hours, I took myself down to Bond Street via a delicious coffee from Gail’s.

When I took all three of my coats into Burberry’s Bond Street store, I was met by Saul from their customer service team. His expertise and attention to detail were remarkable. He carefully inspected each coat and discussed the necessary repairs:
Military Green Trench: Tarnished buckle replacement (£50).
Honey Kensington: Frayed sleeve repair (slightly shortening the sleeve to remove the damage). The back neck buttons had become loose and needed fixing.
Rewaterproofing: All three coats needed reproofing to restore their water resistance, especially the military green, which hadn’t been reproofed in 15 years.
Within a few hours, I received a final quote of £305 for all three coats—a steal considering the quality of work involved! Saul explained that all the work, including dry cleaning, repairs, and reproofing, would be carried out at Burberry’s dedicated facility in Castleford, Yorkshire. Also, to get a Burberry Trench dry cleaned at your local dry cleaner - they’ll charge you £55!!

Just four weeks later, I was reunited with my “babies,” and the results were nothing short of amazing. The military green’s buckle gleamed like new, the honey Kensington’s sleeves were flawless, and all three coats had regained their signature water-resistant finish. Also the quality of dry cleaning is stunning! I have a resolution to go to Burberry once a year for this service.
