Ultimate Guide: The Best Places Online to Find Preloved Luxury and Designer Clothing 2025

From Reliked £30, RRP £275

I love preloved luxury platforms (I’m addicted) it is one of the many reasons I started this blog. I take great pride in patiently waiting, sometimes years, for the exact item, label, size and colour to pop up before buying it.

My main motivation? Saving money and buying better quality.

Full price? No. Discounted? Yes, yes, yes.

Why shop preloved?

  • Luxury becomes more accessible – What was once financially out of reach suddenly isn't.

  • You can literally steal someone else’s style – With alerts, patience and notifications set, you can get the exact outfit worn by your favourite celebrity, influencer or even that friend whose wardrobe you envy for half the price.

  • Secondhand often beats new on quality – Quality materials last. Sure, some designer pieces disappoint and are poorly made (logo t-shirts I am looking at you) and on the flip side I’ve had Zara items hold up for 15+ years. But when brands like: & Other Stories, Zara and Mango are charging up to £225 for a belted coat (made from a mix of wool, polyamide, and alpaca), why not buy a tailored cashmere-wool blend coat secondhand for the same price? Or just wait — trust me, that coat will appear on Vinted and Depop before you know it.

  • It’s better for the planet – Sustainable, stylish, and guilt-free.

Patience is your best friend

I didn’t always have patience. I used to buy things the second I saw them, rip the tags off, look in the mirror and then regret it minutes later. The truth? Patience sucks at first—it denies you that instant gratification; that buyers high. But what it gives you in return is so much better: a wardrobe full of pieces you genuinely love, adore, cherish and that you spent 50% less on. Pieces you’ve thought about, waited for, and know will stand the test of time.

So, Where are the best places online to buy preloved clothing in 2025?

The below is not in order of preference

  1. The Outnet (accepts returns)

Let me introduce you to The Outnet which is an absolute goldmine, think Victoria Beckham trousers (which are the best cut trousers you will ever own) at insane discounts, Zimmermann Dresses (some styles on the site are literally hanging in Trinny Woodalls/ Alice Liveings wardrobe) and even an iconic Oscar de la Renta blue-and-white dress that Meghan Markle wore to a wedding appeared on the site, slashed by thousands. It wasn’t sold out when I looked - they had my size and everything. I should have bought it….  I just could not justify spending £618… it was too much money for me.  I still really, really, regret not buying it.

Taken from Hello! Magazine - Photographer was not credited in the article- not sure who this belongs to. Sorry xx

The Outnet is basically Bicester Village - but online. It is the sister site to Net-a-Porter offering an extensive selection of designer clothing, shoes, bags and accessories at up to 70% off retail prices. They have frequent sales events and a curated assortment of coveted brands like Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Valentino. Note: It does not have every designer on here (be realistic - you will not get discounted Dior, or Louis Vuitton)

Best for?

I recommend The Outnet if you are on the lookout for wedding guest outfits. You can find beautiful one-off wedding guest dresses at a fraction of the original price.

In terms of designers - it is hands down the best for Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney. I bought Victoria Beckham x Reebok leggings with matching top, totalling £90 for both and a Stella McCartney sports bra for £35. Check out the current examples below.

Look at that green Victoria. The Outnet

Harper Beckham wore this to her mums show. 50% off RRP

Shipping and Returns? 5/5

I found it fantastic from a shipping, returns, delivery point. Your item arrives in quality packaging (which when you have spent a lot of money you want that care, attention and that luxe feel), arrives quickly and they have a good returns policy in place.

2. Brand Alley (accepts returns)

Then there’s Brand Alley, which is having a serious moment right now, with Gucci and Prada popping up at seriously good ‘purchase now without blinking’ type prices. Check out my post about the latest from Brand Alley here.

They have daily sales on the likes of Burberry, Versace, and Jimmy Choo, I have not bought designer brands from Brand Alley, but I have bought a LOT of premium high-street, like a serious amount of Reiss and jeans from Seven for all Mankind. The discounts are worth it, but you have to be patient, you almost have to wait a year for last seasons stock to come on the site, but when it does? Hello! The prices are honestly amazing. I have bought jumper dresses, chinos, blouses and dresses all Reiss, all massively discounted - all originally in store at 3 x the price. The below dress I bought on a freezing cold day in December, and then took to the South of France the next Summer.

Best for?

Premium UK high street and US High-End Jeans: Seven for all Mankind, Reiss, Hobbs, Ghost, Whistles and LK Bennett. I have started to see & Other Stories come onto the site now - it was mainly swimwear, and a bit of Mango (not premium - but if its discounted I’ll take it). But also the odd hit ‘only one in stock’ Prada or Gucci number. I have actually just seen a YSL Belt on there…. and I want it.

Shipping and Returns? 3/5

You have 60 days to return your parcel which is really good. But, It takes a long time to get your money back. I returned a Coach Bag (didn’t like the colour and I am not a Coach Gal) it took 14 days for them to process the return and then once they have processed it, it is a further 14 days after that you can expect a refund.

Returns: They have made this process a lot better. A few years ago it was an utter chore….to the point where you nearly gave up on returning your items - but now it is Royal Mail QR Code - no printer required, so absolutely ideal.

3. Reliked (returns available for store credit only)

Reliked is pretty phenomenal when it comes to pricing. They constantly have sales and discount codes, plus a really strong clothing selection. One of their standout features? Influencer wardrobes. Lydia Tomlinsons wardrobe is on the site - I am obsessed!

A couple of years ago, I noticed that James Yardley (Tess Daly’s Strictly Come Dancing stylist) listed a lot of dresses and jumpsuits on the platform. While he didn’t explicitly say they were Tess’s, let’s just say:
a) He’s her stylist. He was the name listed as seller.
b) It was during Strictly season.
c) The outfits matched the ones she wore on-screen—in multiple sizes and colours.

Oh, and another bonus? Many of their sellers donate 100% of proceeds to charity—so everyone wins.

Shipping and Returns? 3/5

Due to this being a resale platform you cannot get a cash refund, but you can get a refund for store credit - this is a better policy than most resale platforms.

Policy:

We allow returns on most items* however we will only issue refunds on to a gift card.
Our returns policy states you have 14 days after delivery to request a refund.
Items must be returned within 7 days of refund request approval and must be in original resalable condition with tags and barcodes still attached.

Items NOT eligible* for refunds:

Beauty

Swimwear

Jewellery Piercings

Lingerie / Underwear

Sold as Seen Items

Items in our Outlet

(Fast Fashion items, and all items under £10 which are all Final Sale)

Karen Millen, White Sequin Bandeau

Recently I purchased a White Sequin Bandeau midi dress from Karen Millen. RRP £129, I purchased for £67 on Reliked.

Please ignore my shorter darker hair :)

4. Vinted (no returns)

If it's on the high street, it’ll be on Vinted. Let me repeat that, if it is on the high street, it will be on Vinted. Facts.

Do I even need to go on about Vinted… don’t we all know how good it is?

I honestly can't get over how user-friendly this app is. Seriously, huge credit to the tech team – 5 stars. The CTO needs a massive raise. The back-end is 10/10

You will also find a few of your favourite influencers selling items on Vinted: Jameela Jamil and Alice Living to note.

Selling? Takes minutes to upload an item (if that). Seamless process, and they transfer money from your wallet to your bank super fast, like within a day, sometimes a few hours.

Buying? Depends on the person you are buying from…but if they have a speedy seller badge this helps! Then it is up to the Gods of usually the Evri delivery drivers.

I've scored pieces from Cos, Arket, Mango, Tala, Lulu Lemon, Mulberry, Reiss, Nadine Merabi, Karen Millen, Zara, and & Other Stories — and the best part? One of my & Other Stories purchases was still full price in-store.

Safe to say, I’ve likely spent over £3,000 on the app in the past few years—and I regret none of it (well maybe a few).

I have also sold £2,238,70 to date on Vinted.

Shipping and Returns - I do not think its fair to rate.

This is up to the buyer,

My biggest tip if you can…try the outfit on in store if still available (especially Jeans) and then try to find the exact match to save buyers remorse.

Christmas Day morning from Vinted

Reiss

Holly Willoughby was wearing this on This Morning. I tracked it down on Vinted. It cost me £135 less than RRP with tags still on.

Not sure why my hair is so flat.

5. Vestiaire Collective (no returns unless purchased from a professional seller)

Vestiaire Collective is hands down one of the best platforms for preloved designer fashion—especially if you're hunting for insane discounts on luxury pieces. If you are reading my blog you know Vestiaire Collective.

Co-founded by Sophie Hersan and Fanny Moizant, this is the OG of designer resale. While handbags remain their biggest seller, their selection of preloved luxury clothing is unmatched.

Their motto, "Long Live Fashion," isn't just a tagline—it’s the heart of their philosophy, driving their commitment to circular fashion and sustainability.

Currently obsessing over: Chloé Knee-High Riding Boots in soft brown leather (absolutely to die for!!) and a Loewe Small Puzzle Bag (the seller will not budge on price - so annoying - like just come down £400 please!)

Please be mindful of IMPORT DUTIES if you are purchasing from a seller in another country. It will cost you and cost you big… yes, I accidentally had to pay £220 to get a bag into the country from Australia (on another platform but still)- whoops! Always slide the ‘Buy from UK’ button.

6. Ebay (refund policy subject to seller)

Ebay has been in the resale game long before it was cool and they started sponsoring Love Island, and when it comes to scoring designer pieces at unbeatable prices, it’s still a major player.

The beauty of Ebay? It’s a total treasure hunt. You never know what you’ll find—whether it’s a vintage designer bag, a sold-out high-street piece, or a luxury coat at a fraction of the price. Patience pays off, and if you're clever with searches and alerts, you can land some unreal bargains.

I personally think Ebay is the best for those super hidden gems—the kind of things you thought you’d never find again. Need to replace a top you bought 15 years ago and have worn to death? Ebay. Want to track down a dress a celebrity wore in a film four years ago? Ebay. Want to buy a blazer Kate Middleton wore 3 years ago?… you get the point. The deep cuts, the biggest fashion regrets of not purchasing, the impossible finds—this is where you get them.

This took me 4 years to find the Bond Girl ‘No Time to Die’ Dress

Kate Middletons Houndstooth Blazer

I do also think (could just be me) over the past few years, Ebay has put serious effort into authenticating and stamping out counterfeits. I’m sure it’s an uphill battle and not one they always win, but they’re really trying—and it shows. Their Authenticity Guarantee covers key designer brands, giving buyers extra confidence when shopping for high-end pieces. If you’re cautious and stick to trusted sellers with strong reviews, Ebay can be an absolute goldmine.

If you're willing to dig a little, Ebay remains one of the best places to score preloved fashion—often at prices cheaper than other resale platforms.

Refund Policy: Yes, eBay offers refunds through its Money Back Guarantee policy. If an item arrives damaged, is faulty, or doesn't match the listing, you can request a return and receive a refund, including original shipping cost. But again, you cannot return something just because you do not like it. Also, some sellers will accept refunds so make sure to check for that.

I wanted to give Pandora a shout out! Definitely worth going into the store in Knightsbridge (the store in better than the online shopping experience. They have amazing designer pieces (Chanel Blazers, Balmain evening dresses, D&G dresses). Pandora has been around for absolute ever. Princess Diana would shop here.

Back in the mid-to-late 2010s, Hardly Ever Worn It was one of my absolute go-tos for preloved designer — I found some of my best pieces there, including a couple of YSL wallets and even a classic Burberry trench. For some reason, over the years other platforms started to take over the resale space and I drifted away, but every time I dip back in I’m reminded just how good it can be when you strike gold.

I bought this Burberry trench brand new with tags and the Burberry coat carrier for £990 less than RRP.

Fantastic show stopping pieces.

Happy shopping!
